SCOR, the French reinsurer, have recently published their new strategic three year plan dubbed ‘Strong Momentum‘. A lot of the presentation which details the plan is devoted to SCOR Global Investments (SGI), their investment management arm and how they want to expand it and increase its contributions to group profits.

Clariden Leu closed access to their flagship catastrophe bond funds earlier this year in June. The reason given at the time was that the volume of new issuance in the primary cat bond market was too low to give investors the opportunities the fund was designed for.

Catco Investment Management is set to launch in Bermuda during Q4 this year as a collateralised catastrophe reinsurance fund with $1b of backing. The fund is being launched by ex-Oxygen Re broker Tony Belisle.

A new investment firm who will be specialising in insurance-linked securities has launched in Switzerland (according to Investment & Pensions Europe). Twelve Capital are a boutique investment and asset management firm who will be offering insurance-linked security and insurance related debt investment opportunities.

Swiss Re has today announced that it has inked a historic agreement with the Alabama State Insurance Fund to provide it with three years of parametric insurance cover. This the first parametric cover afforded to a U.S. state government fund.

Hedgeweek reports that Bermuda based insurance-linked securities investment manager Nephila Capital has attracted a large influx of new capital from UK institutions during the second half of 2009. Nephila Capital now manages total assets of $2.6b.
