This report reviews the catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities (ILS) market at the end of the fourth-quarter of 2024, looking at new risk capital issued and the composition of transactions completed during the period, as well as reviewing full year cat bond activity.
Fourth-quarter issuance of $4.5 billion was second only to the prior year period and this was sufficient to drive the full-year 2024 total to a new record high of $17.7 billion, resulting in the outstanding catastrophe bond market ending the year at $49.5 billion, representing year-on-year growth of 10%.
