Asset manager Amundi Pioneer Investment Management’s flagship dedicated insurance-linked securities (ILS) fund, the Pioneer ILS Interval Fund, managed a positive return of over 5% in the year to October 31st 2018, as premium income earned outweighed insured losses for the managers’ ILS portfolio.

Asset management giant Amundi Pioneer Investment Management has hired experienced reinsurance underwriter Campbell Brown as a portfolio manager for its range of insurance-linked securities (ILS) fund strategies.

Assets under management of the Pioneer ILS Interval Fund have grown sharply again in the last quarter of record, jumping another 21% to reach almost $983 million at the end of July 2018. However, the impacts of the 2017 catastrophe losses is evident in the reduced valuations of many positions in the fund.

In the quarter of record ending April 30th 2018, the Pioneer ILS Interval Fund, a U.S. mutual insurance-linked securities and reinsurance linked investment fund managed by Amundi Pioneer Investment Management, increased its assets under management by 20% to reach $810 million.
