Miller, the independent specialist re/insurance broker has restructured its Reinsurance leadership team, appointing Peter Stubbings as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Reinsurance, while Gary Masters has been named Chairman of Reinsurance.
Miller has confirmed that both appointments are subject to regulatory approval.
Stubbings, a renowned reinsurance and retrocession broking team leader brings more than 40 years of reinsurance and leadership experience, as well as technical expertise and long-standing client relationships across London, Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Nordics.
Stubbings joined Miller in May 2026, where he was appointed Chairman of Miller Bermuda, to help support the continued growth of the company’s reinsurance and retro offering across the Bermuda market.
He joined Miller from McGill and Partners, the boutique risk solutions and broking firm, where he previously served as Bermuda CEO from 2023.
Before he joined McGill and Partners, Stubbings held the role of CEO of Global ReSpecialty at Aon, a broking division with a particular focus on global retrocession opportunities, including industry-loss warranties (ILW’s) as well as ILS fund or capital markets backed retro products.
Moreover, in his new role as Chairman of Reinsurance, Masters will continue to help shape the strategic direction of Miller’s business, where he will work closely with Stubbings to ensure continuity and a seamless handover.
Miller said that both appointments reflect the scale, momentum and ambition of the business following significant growth, team expansion and the acquisitions of Miller Bruzon, AHJ Miller and Shields Miller.
“The new leadership structure marks the next phase in Miller’s reinsurance growth, as the firm continues to establish a global, specialism-led reinsurance business. The focus will be on further bringing together Miller’s established capabilities alongside recent acquisitions which have deepened its treaty expertise and extended its geographical footprint into the Nordics, Caribbean, North America and the MENA region,” Miller said.
James Hands, CEO, Miller, commented: “We have built real momentum in reinsurance, with significant progress in our teams, capabilities and international footprint. Peter’s appointment as CEO of Reinsurance, alongside Gary’s transition to Chairman, gives us a strong leadership partnership for this next chapter.
“Peter brings exceptional market experience, technical depth and client relationships and I am also delighted that we will continue to benefit from Gary’s experience and strategic insight as Chairman, having made a significant contribution to the development and growth of Miller’s reinsurance business since joining Miller through the AHJ acquisition.”
Peter Stubbings, CEO of Reinsurance, Miller, said: “The opportunity ahead is incredibly exciting. We have an exceptionally strong platform for the future, built on talented people, technical expertise and deep client relationships. My focus now is on building on that foundation to help serve clients even more effectively in a complex risk environment, working closely with colleagues across both our reinsurance and insurance teams at Miller.”
