Lockton Re confirms Bob Bisset as Chairman, Global Retrocession

Independent insurance broking giant Lockton has now confirmed the senior hire and appointment of Bob Bisset as its new Chairman, Global Retrocession & Property Specialty, Bermuda and Market Capital of reinsurance broking unit Lockton Re.

As we explained back in June, Lockton Re was set to appoint former Aon executive Bob (Robert) Bisset to a senior role, as it continued to make key hires for a growing retrocessional reinsurance practice.

Bob (Robert) Bisset had worked at rival Aon for just under two decades, having begun as a Senior Vice President in the firm’s reinsurance practice Aon Benfield in the Bermuda office.

He became a Team Leader for the Aon reinsurance broking unit in Bermuda. Then relocated to the UK in 2013 and subsequently moved up to become CEO of Global ReSpecialty at Aon in 2015.

Aon’s Global ReSpecialty unit has always had a focus on global retrocession broking opportunities, including industry-loss warranties (ILW’s) and other ILS fund or capital markets backed retro products.

More recently, Bisset took on the role of UK Growth Leader at Aon in late 2018, a position that saw him overseeing nine UK business divisions at the broker and becoming responsible for driving growth across all UK sectors.

Lockton Re said this morning that Bisset will now join its Global Retrocession team, further strengthening the unit with his considerable reputation and market standing.

Bisset will also become a member of Lockton Re’s Global Executive Committee.
