Share

Insurance and reinsurance broker Aon has announced a reorganisation of the Global ReSpecialty leadership, with Bob Bisset stepping into a new role of UK Growth Leader at Aon, while Peter Stubbings has been hired from Guy Carpenter to replace him as CEO.

Bisset had led the Global ReSpecialty team at Aon as CEO, with particular influence in the broking of global retrocession opportunities, including industry-loss warranties (ILW’s) and other ILS fund or capital markets backed retro products.

He now becomes UK Growth Leader at Aon, overseeing all nine UK business divisions and will be tasked with driving growth across all UK sectors, prioritising Aon’s resources, and guiding investments.

Bisset will also lead the team’s high potential growth areas of MGA & Programme, Innovations & Solutions and Global Portfolio Solutions businesses, which are led respectively by Miles Shephard, Kurt Cripps and Andrew Matson.

Peter Stubbings joins Aon on October 15th 2018 from Guy Carpenter to take on the role of CEO of Global ReSpecialty with effect from January 1st 2019.

At Guy Carpenter Stubbings was CEO of Bermuda for four years, and CEO of Continental Europe for the five years prior. He has also held senior roles at RK Carvill and Willis Re among others.

All three of the Aon divisional leaders within Global ReSpecialty, Richard Wheeler (Non Marine Property/Retro), Tom Wakefield (Marine, Specialty & Composite), and Mark Skilton (Aviation), will report directly to Stubbings.

Also from January 1st 2019, Tom Wakefield will become COO of Global ReSpecialty, tasked with developing an integrated client strategy across the Property/Retro, Marine Specialty & Composite and Aviation lines. Mark Skilton will become Vice Chairman of Global ReSpecialty as well, with both set to report into Stubbings.

Bisset and Stubbings will report directly to Nick Frankland, UK CEO of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions business.

Nick Frankland commented on the news, “We welcome Peter to Aon at this exciting step in the evolution of our Reinsurance Solutions business in the UK – and congratulate Bob, Tom and Mark on their promotions as we continue to build out a sustainable management model. These developments enable us to pursue a strategic growth agenda aligned to the firm’s overarching ethos of bringing the best of Aon to clients as a unified global professional services firm, offering solutions that assist businesses across the entire spectrum of risk, retirement, and health.”
