Lockton names Jerry Ridge to lead reinsurance broking

The largest independent insurance broker Lockton has named Jerry Ridge as the new Head of Reinsurance of its Lockton Re reinsurance broking division, a role he will take on when George Carrington retires this Spring.

Lockton Re works closely with the new Lockton Capital Markets unit that the broker launched last year, to provide more of a focused offering for risk transfer to the capital and collateralised markets.

As Head of Reinsurance at Lockton Re, Ridge will lead the unit and its 60 strong team of professionals across the UK and U.S.

Lockton said that it hopes to build on an impressive period of reinsurance business growth, expanding the Lockton Re client base and market reach.

Ridge, who joined Lockton in June 2018 and has 37 years of reinsurance sector experience, will also continue to oversee the Marine and Energy Reinsurance practice.

He previously held the role of Chairman of Global Specialty reinsurance at Willis Re, before which he held positions as co-CEO of Willis Re Speciality and as Managing Director of Willis Re Global Marine and Energy.

Lockton also said that James Moss will continue in his role as Business Leader, non-Marine Reinsurance and Carla Moffett will continue as Business Leader, Strategy and Business Development the brokers reinsurance arm.
