Guy Carpenter to bring new capital to Asia Pacific catastrophe risks

Reinsurance broking group Guy Carpenter has announced the launch of a Catastrophe Risk Advisory Group for the Asia Pacific region, aiming to help clients through the delivery of innovative catastrophe risk transfer solutions and access to new capital sources.

Existing Guy Carpenter employee Jeremy Waite will lead the Asia Pacific Catastrophe Advisory Group operations.

Waite will oversee the activities of the Catastrophe Advisory Group, bringing his more than 25 years of experience in the reinsurance sector to the role.

His career has spanned underwriting, actuarial and broking roles across all classes, as well as catastrophe modeling in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Waite will continue in his current role leading the property treaty reinsurance broking team at Guy Carpenter for Australia and New Zealand.

Guy Carpenter’s Asia Pacific Catastrophe Advisory Group will provide its reinsurance clients with direct access to the firms catastrophe expertise and capabilities, including its in-house analytics tools and experts, scientific partners, and public-sector specialists.

The unit will work with companies from across the Asia Pacific region, helping them through the development of innovative solutions and through facilitating access to new sources of capital to manage these catastrophe exposures.

In addition, the new group will have a focus on climate change and how it will impact catastrophe risk exposure in the region, helping clients to better understand and address the growing impacts.
