AQR Re, the Bermuda based third-party capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused reinsurance underwriter and affiliate of global investment-management firm AQR Capital Management, has added a new underwriter hire in Chris Conway.
Conway was previously with Third Point Re, the hedge fund backed Bermuda reinsurance firm, where he held the role of Underwriter and Head of Risk Analytics. With the news last week that Third Point Re is closing its catastrophe fund it’s perhaps no surprise that Conway is leaving at this time.
Conway joined AQR Re as an underwriter on the 22nd December. In the new role Conway will focus on underwriting international retrocession and catastrophe reinsurance business, while assisting in other areas. Conway will report to Martin Vezina, AQR Re Ltd’s Chief Underwriting Officer.
Conway spent two and a half years at Third Point Re, prior to which he spent six years with Axis Specialty Ltd. as an AVP of reinsurance underwriting.
