Arch Re, the reinsurance underwriting arm of specialty re/insurer Arch Capital Group in Bermuda, has hired Brian Lynch from Aon’s insurance management unit for an operational role focused on insurance-linked securities and retrocession.
Arch Re leverages retrocessional reinsurance for its own book and also shares risks with third-party investors through insurance-linked securities (ILS) style structures.
The company also operates as a facilitator or fronter of collateralized reinsurance transactions for certain ILS funds and investors, plus sponsors mortgage insurance-linked securities (ILS) transactions regularly.
As a group Arch has a range of ILS and retro related activities underway, which Lynch will be tasked to assist with from an operational standpoint.
Lynch has joined Arch Re in Bermuda this month as a Senior Operations Advisor, for ILS and retrocessions.
Most recently, Lynch worked at insurance and reinsurance broker Aon’s insurance management unit, Aon Insurance Managers, where he was a Vice President of Insurance-Linked Securities, working with large commercial clients on their ILS management needs.
This included working on the set up and licensing of ILS and reinsurance entities, as well as oversight of the development, structuring, and management of other ILS transactions such as catastrophe bonds and reinsurance sidecars.
Prior to joining Aon, Lynch worked at bank HSBC in Bermuda and Dublin, Ireland. He has also worked at investment manager Amundi and consultancy EY.
