Markus Schmutz (ex-Swiss Re Capital Markets) joins Rewire as partner

Markus Schmutz has joined boutique insurance and reinsurance-linked securities (ILS) structuring and distribution firm Rewire Securities LLC as a Partner, bringing significant experience from his time at Swiss Re Capital Markets.

Schmutz most recently held a number of roles at reinsurance firm Swiss Re, including CEO of broker-dealer Swiss Re Capital Markets Corporation and derivatives carrier Swiss Re Risk Solutions Corporation as well as Managing Director, Head of Insurance-Linked Securities Structuring at Swiss Re Capital Markets in New York.

Schmutz has worked in and managed one of the largest teams origination and execution of ILS transactions such as catastrophe bonds since the early days of the market at Swiss Re. Rewire said that Schmutz’s appointment will “further enhance the platform’s analytical, advisory and structuring expertise.”

Schmutz adds experience and contacts, both across ILS and reinsurance, which will help Rewire advance its goal of combining technology with structuring and distribution expertise to further integrate reinsurance and insurance-linked capital markets.
