Swiss Re appoints Klugman & Monnier co-head’s of global ILS business

Global reinsurance firm Swiss Re has announced some changes to the leadership of its global insurance-linked securities (ILS) business activities within the firms Capital Markets unit, with Judy Klugman and Jean-Louis Monnier appointed co-heads of ILS.

Swiss Re Capital Markets, the reinsurers business unit that facilitates capital market risk transfer activities, from catastrophe bonds to other collateralised reinsurance structures, has split the task of leading its ILS activities between two long-term employees, both highly respected ILS executives.

Judy Klugman will remain in her role of global head of ILS distribution, from where she oversees such activities as bookrunning, investor relations and secondary ILS or catastrophe bond trading, and will also lead the Swiss Re ILS team in New York. Klugman has been with Swiss Re Capital Markets since the very early days of cat bonds and ILS, joining the unit in 1999.

Jean-Louis Monnier takes on the role of global head of ILS structuring and will also lead the Swiss Re ILS team in London. Monnier will also remain head of the Property and Casualty Structured Solutions regional teams in the UK and Africa, from where structure reinsurance solutions are designed and implemented for Swiss Re clients. Monnier has been with Swiss Re Capital Markets since 2002.

The pair have strong track records as ILS and catastrophe bond market leaders and will continue to assist Swiss Re’s large insurance and reinsurance client base to reach the capital markets.
