Reports suggest that insurance and reinsurance holding company Alleghany Corporation is mulling the sale of reinsurer TransRe (or Transatlantic Holdings Inc.), which could include the sale of its stake in ILS asset manager Pillar Capital.

Shareholders Transatlantic Holdings, Inc. (TransRe) and the executive management of Bermuda-based insurance-linked asset manager Pillar Capital Holdings Limited have increased their ownership position in the firm to 50% each.

Stephen A. Velotti has been promoted to the role of Chief Executive Office (CEO) at Bermuda-based insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance-linked investment manager Pillar Capital Holdings Limited effective immediately. Mr. Velotti joined Pillar Capital in 2008 and until this promotion held the roles of Chief Underwriting Officer and Chief Investment Officer.

Juniperus Capital, the Bermuda-based insurance- linked investment manager focused on collateralized reinsurance, catastrophe bonds and insurance-linked securities, today announced that a veteran of the re/insurance industry Chris McKeown has joined the firm as Chief Executive Officer.
