Insurance and reinsurance group Hiscox continues to benefit from the efficiency gained through its growing third-party capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS) unit Kiskadee Investment Managers, as it helps the company to offset market pressures.

Kiskadee Investment Managers, the insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance linked investment strategies unit of Hiscox Re, has made a number of appointments as it builds out its team for the next phase of growth.

Insurance and reinsurance group Hiscox’s third-party reinsurance capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS) unit Kiskadee Investment Managers, has announced the launch of Cardinal Re Ltd., a new SPI platform, as well as an increase in ILS assets managed.

Assets under management for the Kiskadee ILS funds, operated by Hiscox Group’s third-party reinsurance capital and insurance-linked securities unit Kiskadee Investment Managers, have passed $540m as the ILS unit helped to drive growth in reinsurance.

The Kiskadee ILS funds, operated by Hiscox Group’s third-party reinsurance capital and insurance-linked securities unit Kiskadee Investment Managers, took advantage of diversification opportunities at the April renewals to grow its portfolios to over 300 positions.

For  insurance and reinsurance group Hiscox, premium income earned by its insurance-linked securities (ILS) unit Kiskadee Investment Managers is helping to offset reductions seen elsewhere in the business.

Bermuda-headquartered, London-listed insurance and reinsurance group Hiscox reported its preliminary results today, in which it said that it anticipates insurance-linked securities (ILS) assets under management at Kiskadee Investment Managers will reach $500m by mid-2015.

In its results announced this morning, insurance, reinsurance and third-party capital management group Hiscox Chairman Robert Childs, said that the firm expects the softening in the insurance and reinsurance market will deteriorate further.
