Hiscox Re Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd. (Hiscox Re ILS), the manager of third-party reinsurance capital funds at Hiscox, has grown its assets under management to a new high at $1.5 billion after attracting additional capital following the losses of 2017 and now plans to expand its product range too.

Hiscox Group, the specialist insurance and reinsurance firm, has experienced further growth in its Hiscox Re ILS funds in the last quarter, but following the major catastrophe losses is witnessing “material hardening” with some property catastrophe reinsurance rates expected to be up as much as 30%.

Hiscox Re ILS, the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) arm of global re/insurer Hiscox Group, has added a new portfolio manager to its ILS investment team recently, hiring Aaron Garcia from London re/insurer Novae Group.

Insurance and reinsurance firm Hiscox said today that it would increase its stamp capacity for its Lloyd’s of London syndicate by around 45%, as it predicts a “widespread market turn” following the major industry losses from recent catastrophe events.
