Reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager Blue Capital Management said today that it is suspending its share repurchase programme for the listed Blue Capital Alternative Income Fund (formerly known as the Blue Capital Global Reinsurance Fund), as it waits to see if there will be any impact from Hurricane Irma to its portfolio.

Reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager Blue Capital Management reported on target returns for its listed ILS fund strategy in the first-half of 2017, but noted that it is now monitoring the impacts of hurricane Harvey closely to identify any threat to the fund’s investment positions.

Sompo (previously Endurance) owned reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager Blue Capital Management is to continue redeeming shares from investors, as a way to provide its third-party investors with guaranteed liquidity opportunities.

The June 1st reinsurance renewals saw pricing fall at a faster rate than expected, as pricing for Florida and U.S. property catastrophe business declined by as much as 10% in some cases. ILS specialists Blue Capital Management report that despite steeper than expected declines, the manager achieved “strong portfolio execution.”

Blue Capital Management Ltd., the now Sompo Holdings owned specialist insurance and reinsurance investment manager, has had a motion approved by its shareholders which will see its stock exchange listed ILS fund renamed from the Blue Capital Global Reinsurance Fund Limited to the Blue Capital Alternative Income Fund Limited.

The Blue Capital Global Reinsurance Fund, the London and Bermuda stock exchange listed reinsurance linked investment fund managed by the Endurance owned Blue Capital Management, has announced it is to redeem almost $13.14 million of shares from its investors.

Major investment manager Aberdeen Asset Management has increased its stake in the listed reinsurance and insurance linked securities (ILS) investment fund, the Blue Capital Global Reinsurance Fund, to over 5% with the acquisition of almost 2 million more shares.
