Global reinsurance company Swiss Re has appointed a Head of Portfolio Management at its new catastrophe bond focused SEC registered investment adviser, Swiss Re Insurance-Linked Investment Advisors Corporation (SRILIAC).

weilong-su-swiss-re-ilsTaking on the position is Weilong Su, who has been working as a catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities (ILS) portfolio manager at Swiss Re for more than five years.

Swiss Re launched its new cat bond investment manager entity Swiss Re Insurance-Linked Investment Advisors Corporation (SRILIAC) earlier this month, providing investors with a managed route to access Swiss Re’s already existing abilities in catastrophe bond investing, natural catastrophe modelling and underwriting.

Weilong Su first joined Swiss Re in 2012 in Singapore, working as a property treaty reinsurance underwriter and a natural catastrophe specialist.

In 2017, Su moved to New York and began managing Swiss Re’s proprietary ILS portfolio, including cat bonds, industry-loss warranties (ILW’s) and other catastrophe derivative contracts.

In addition Su worked on the underwriting of new catastrophe bond issues with the Swiss Re Capital Markets team, as well as secondary trading, portfolio management and monitoring cash flows and market trends.

As Head, Portfolio Management of the new SRILIAC cat bond investment adviser unit, Su will remain based in New York and is responsible for managing and executing the portfolio investment strategy, which is now opened up and welcoming third-party investor capital.
