Augment Risk, the risk capital and reinsurance solutions broking firm, has hired well-known insurance-linked securities market executive Brad Livingston, who joins the firm to strengthen its ILS team and in particular is expected to help grow the private ILS offering in property risk, given his collateralized reinsurance expertise.

brad-livingston-augment-risk-ilsLivingston joins Augment Risk as a partner within its ILS team, effective immediately. He will be based in Nashville and report directly to Thad Hall, Head of ILS Solutions at the broking group.

With approaching two decades of experience in the insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bond markets, Livingston has worked on the full range of collateralized reinsurance structures, with largely natural catastrophe focused transactions nearing $10 billion in capital executed over his career.

Livingston started his career working at GC Securities, the capital markets and insurance-linked securities unit of reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter. From 2007 to 2013, Livingston worked at GC Securities helping clients access and place ILS and catastrophe bond opportunities and diversifying sources of risk capital.

He worked at Willis Towers Watson Securities from 2013 for four years, as Vice President of Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS), developing and structuring property catastrophe reinsurance treaty opportunities for institutional investors.

In 2017, Livingston joined AXIS Capital and worked his way up to become Head of Third Party Capital, leading all of the re/insurers ILS initiatives.

In 2019, he returned to the Willis Re Securities division of Willis Towers Watson (WTW) as a Director, working on capital markets reinsurance, collateralized reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) structuring.

After that, Livingston moved to work at private equity specialist Apollo Global in 2021, spending just over a year working to originate P&C opportunities for the investment group.

After that, Livingston joined parametric firm Arbol as its Head of Risk Capital Solutions, spending roughly a year with the company.

He then joined reinsurance broker Gallagher Re in 2023, as Head of Collateralized Re, where he led the brokers work with collateralized markets and ILS investors, helping ceding clients to access efficient reinsurance and retrocessional capital via collateralized structures.

At Augment Risk, Livingston will be tasked with expanding the ILS offering at the broker, in particular around private ILS and collateralized reinsurance.

His wealth of experience across transactional types and structures will be invaluable, as Augment Risk looks to build-out more ILS business and help its clients access the capital markets for reinsurance and retrocession efficiently.

Thad Hall, Head of ILS Solutions at Augment Risk, commented on the news, “We are delighted to welcome Brad to the team. His ability to bridge reinsurance, capital markets and innovation directly aligns with Augment Risk’s ethos of combining capabilities to structure tailored reinsurance and capital solutions that create measurable value for our clients.

“Brad’s private property ILS expertise will be invaluable as we expand our offering in this area.”
