Insurance and reinsurance firm AXIS Capital has hired Brad Livingston, whose career has been focused on ILS with his most recent positon being at Willis Towers Watson Securities, to work on capital market related initiatives at the firm.
Livingston will report to Ben Rubin, who leads third-party reinsurance capital activities at AXIS Capital as Executive Vice President, Capital Markets.
AXIS Capital’s third-party capital activities under the AXIS Re Ventures brand sees the company helping institutional investors to access the returns of property catastrophe reinsurance and other short-tailed lines of reinsurance business, through structures including sidecars and mandates with strategic capital partners.
Livingston has focused on ILS and alternative capital throughout his career, having worked at reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter’s capital markets unit GC Securities from 2007 to 2013, after which he went on to Willis.
He joined Willis Towers Watson Securities in 2013 as a Vice President of Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS), and continued his practice of developing and structuring property catastrophe reinsurance treaty opportunities for institutional investors.
Livingston has worked across the marketing, origination and structuring of insurance-linked securities (ILS) and other collateralized reinsurance opportunities, hence his expertise will complement the work already underway at AXIS in its Ventures and strategic capital partner operations.
AXIS Capital has been expanding its work with third-party capital and ILS investors and this hire suggests that helping investors to access reinsurance linked returns will remain an increasing focus at the firm.
