Arch Capital Group, the Bermuda headquartered insurance and reinsurance specialist, has promoted insurance-linked securities and retrocession operations specialist Bryan Lynch to the role of Head of ILS Experience and Operations.
According to Lynch’s update on LinkedIn he actually stepped into the new role as Arch Capital’s Head of ILS Experience and Operations within its Arch Reinsurance division in April this year, after almost six years with the firm.
Prior to that Lynch had worked at insurance and reinsurance broker Aon’s insurance management unit, Aon Insurance Managers, also in Bermuda.
As a Vice President of Insurance-Linked Securities at Aon Insurance Managers, Lynch worked with large commercial re/insurance clients on their ILS management needs.
This included the set up and licensing of ILS and reinsurance entities, as well as providing oversight of the development, structuring, and management of other ILS transactions such as catastrophe bonds and reinsurance sidecars.
Before his time working at Aon, Lynch held roles at HSBC Bank in Bermuda and Dublin, Ireland. He has also worked in operations, reporting accounting and audit at investment manager Amundi and consultancy EY during his career.
Lynch has deep expertise in operationalising ILS within organisations and as Arch Capital continues its work with third-party capital investors, ceding risk to them through certain structures, funds and retrocessional arrangements, as well as fronting risks for some capital partners such as ILS investment managers, his new role will see him optimising and leading the client service for these important capital partners to the re/insurer.
Evidencing Arch’s expanding ILS business, we recently reported that investment manager Eaton Vance has recently allocated to Arch Capital’s structure named Voussoir Re Ltd. within some of its mutual multi-asset strategy funds.
