Aon Insurance Managers (AIM), the unit of the global insurance and reinsurance broker that deals with insurance management, including of commercial, captive and insurance-linked securities (ILS) vehicles, has added Michael Dunsire in Singapore to lead the regional operation.
Dunsire has more than 30-years of experience in the captive and insurance management space, with recent years including a focus on insurance-linked securities (ILS) structure management and strategy as well.
His career has seen him working at global re/insurance entities including Hannover Re, Zurich Insurance, a Luxembourg based Captive Manager as well as two leading global insurance brokers.
Three of those roles have been as Head of Captive Advisory, while Dunsire has also had a focus on alternative risk transfer and risk capital.
In recent years, Dunsire has worked as a consultant with a focus on insurance management, with a heavy focus on insurance-linked securities (ILS) and strategic risk transfer.
In these roles he has helped to develop projects for clients that were focused on establishing offshore ILS entities and cells for risk transfer, as well as liaising with ILS market participants on behalf of potential sponsors of transactions.
He joined Aon Insurance Managers earlier this year and is based in Singapore.
He joins the company at a time when Asia Pacific ILS market activity has continued to grow, helped by the expansion of ILS activity in domiciles such as Singapore.
With a focus on establishing collateralized reinsurance vehicles now expected, as domiciles like Singapore look to increase the options available to potential ILS sponsors, Dunsire’s experience will help Aon clients understand and access the offerings that become available to those working out of the region.
