Swiss alternative assets and insurance-linked securities investment manager Plenum Investments will be focusing in on their ILS business after it was announced that their non-insurance-linked investment operations would be moved under its own brand name, Pulsar. The move will help them to focus on their two core areas of operations and help them to strengthen both existing and new brands, said Plenum chief executive Rainer Gruenig.
Currently the Plenum Investments brand operates both alternative investment solutions as well as insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bond investment solutions under the same brand umbrella. ILS and cat bond operations will continue to be serviced under the Plenum Investment brand with the same team continuing to manage Plenum’s successful cat bond and ILS funds. The alternative investment management operations will all come under the new Pulsar product line.
We assume that Plenum will seek to grow their ILS operations, as well as their alternatives arm, and by separating the two and using different branding it will help them to better market these offerings and grow their assets under management.
