Here’s a copy of the Risk Management Solutions (RMS) press release regarding their involvement as risk modellers in the recently closed €75m SCOR Atlas VI Capital Ltd. catastrophe bond transaction. It gives a little insight into the way their RMS® Paradex Japan Earthquake model was used.

A new catastrophe bond issuance is being marketed by SCOR through their Dublin based SPV Atlas VI Capital Ltd. This is the second issuance under Atlas VI Capital Ltd. and follows the first Atlas VI issuance of €75m of catastrophe bond notes from SCOR in December 2009.

SCOR has announced that its latest foray into the insurance-linked securities market Atlas VI Capital Ltd. has closed successfully. Atlas VI provides SCOR with €75m of protection against certain European windstorms and Japanese earthquakes.

As we hinted a week ago, SCOR is preparing to launch a new catastrophe bond transaction within the next two weeks. Atlas VI Capital Ltd., a $75m deal (that may rise given the interest in recent transactions) is being launched to provide SCOR Global P&C SE with cover between December 2009 and April 2013.

Speaking at global reinsurer SCOR’s briefing at RVS 2025 in Monte Carlo, Jean-Paul Conoscente, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SCOR Global P&C, said that the firm will continue to sponsor catastrophe bond issuances regardless of the market cycle.

In commenting on the recent successful issuance of a $175 million Atlas Capital DAC (Series 2024-1) catastrophe bond, the second from that Irish special purpose vehicle, SCOR’s CFO and Deputy CEO François de Varenne has highlighted the “efficiency gains made.”
