Verisk Synergy Studio, a major milestone that reflects risk landscape demands: Natarajan

Verisk’s recent launch of its updated U.S. Tropical Cyclone model, delivered via the firm’s new cloud-native Synergy Studio platform, represents a major milestone built on years of deliberate work, and according to Gayatri Natarajan, SVP of Product Management, the extensive effort behind the release directly reflects the evolving demands of the complex risk landscape the industry navigates.

verisk-logoAs we reported earlier this month, the update is expected to provide a more realistic assessment of individual risk and portfolio exposure across insurance, reinsurance, and the capital markets.

Commenting on the release, Natarajan said: “This is the release we’ve been building toward. Verisk Synergy Studio is now available alongside the most comprehensive update to our U.S. Tropical Cyclone model to date, and updated U.S. Winter Storm and Inland Flood models; a milestone built on years of deliberate work. As the risks facing this industry grow in scale and complexity, so does our commitment to its resilience. This is the foundation, and we’ll keep building.”

Natarajan particularly highlighted how Verisk Synergy Studio delivers high performance, scalability, and flexibility, all of which help drive companies’ catastrophe risk management forward.

The SVP also noted that as the model is built and operated as a cloud-native solution, it rearchitects the capabilities of industry-leading catastrophe management solutions Touchstone, Touchstone Re, and AnalyzeRe into a single platform.

“Combined with Verisk’s global suite of scientifically rigorous models that leverage a shared financial framework, Verisk Synergy Studio streamlines your data ingestion, executes your analyses with your business preferences, and gives your team access to richer insights for your operations, while preserving familiar processes and accelerating collaboration across your teams,” Natarajan continued.

In terms of how the platform helps to improve insurance portfolios, Natarajan said: “Verisk Synergy Studio improves how users of insurance portfolio analytics import and prepare exposure data, apply enhanced geocoding and demand surge options, manage currencies, and export detailed loss results. Expanded catalog and event-set flexibility enables broader, more tailored analyses while keeping workflows consistent and auditable.”

Across the platform, Verisk Synergy Studio delivers secure data access, simplified authentication, and expanded file transfer options.

Ultimately, this allows reinsurance teams to gain more enhanced program import, design, and analysis workflows, allowing them to analyse large portfolios significantly faster and streamline their import and export paths.

Natarajan concluded: “This release delivers model updates across multiple perils, including support for multi-model analysis. The most significant is the Verisk North Atlantic Basin-wide Tropical Cyclone Model, which brings comprehensive updates to the Verisk Tropical Cyclone Model for the United States and additional hazard updates for Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. The Verisk Winter Storm Model for the United States and the Verisk Inland Flood Model for the United States are also updated. An enhanced demand surge framework, now applied across U.S. peril models, brings greater consistency and precision to loss estimation.

“The work behind this release reflects the trust you place in us, and the demands of the risk landscape you navigate. Thank you for your partnership; it drives this work and what comes next.”
