International insurer and reinsurer MS Amlin has now launched the capital raise for the 2025 edition of its Phoenix reinsurance sidecar, and with the vehicle’s performance consistently beating expectations, investor interest is high, according to William Ho, CEO of MS Amlin Asia Pacific.

Speaking with Artemis in a recent video interview, William Ho, the CEO of MS Amlin Asia Pacific, discussed the innovative Phoenix sidecar series of deals and explained that these challenged the norm of what is typically seen in insurance-linked securities (ILS) and the product has delivered for its investors.

Re/insurer MS Amlin intends to renew its novel Phoenix 1 Re reinsurance sidecar and expects the vehicle to become an important component of its strategy in the Asia region, according to William Ho, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MS Amlin Asia Pacific, and Head of Reinsurance for Asia, MS Amlin.

It turns out that MS Amlin was the sponsor behind the recently completed Phoenix 1 Re Pte. Ltd. (Series 2021-1) collateralised reinsurance sidecar transaction, which appears to have been the first sidecar to be solely focused on Asian property catastrophe risks.

A new Singapore domiciled insurance-linked securities (ILS) transaction has come to light, after a recently registered Special Purpose Reinsurance Vehicle named Phoenix 1 Re Pte. Ltd. issued and listed almost $42.14 million of private ILS notes.
