Swiss Re Insurance-Linked Investment Advisors Corporation to make Weissmann CEO

The Swiss Re Insurance-Linked Investment Advisors Corporation (SRILIAC) ILS investment management division of global reinsurance firm Swiss Re will start 2026 with a new CEO, as Leigh Weissman is being promoted to the position and Dr. Mariagiovanna Guatteri will then focus solely on leading the investment strategy as CIO.

Earlier this year, Swiss Re combined its insurance-linked securities investment management operations under the Swiss Re Insurance-Linked Investment Advisors Corporation (SRILIAC) brand, with long-standing executive Mariagiovanna Guatteri holding both Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) roles.

Now, the company is separating those responsibilities to enable Guatteri to focus solely on her role as CIO, continuing to lead on all SRILIAC investment strategies and new offerings.

Leigh Weissman, currently Chief Operating Officer at SRILIAC, will now step into the CEO of SRILIAC role from January 1st 2026, and the company said the transition and separation of responsibilities reflects “SRILIAC’s continued growth as a dedicated insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager.”

Weissman has extensive operational and leadership experience and will also retain her position of Chief Operating Officer at SRILIAC.

Weissman has worked at Swiss Re since 2002, playing a key role in SRILIAC’s development and day-to-day operations as the company built-out and expanded its ILS management offering.

As both CEO and COO of SRILIAC, Weissman will take on responsibility for the overall management of the firm, leading on areas including operational execution, corporate governance, client delivery and continued development.

Guatteri has served as both the CEO and CIO of SRILIAC since the inception of the ILS investment management unit and has been instrumental in the build-out of its platform, investment strategy and capabilities.

She joined Swiss Re in 2003 and has more than 20 years of experience in catastrophe bond portfolio management, natural catastrophe modelling, ILS trading and portfolio construction.

The company noted that Guatteri’s track record has “shaped SRILIAC’s strengths and reputation in the ILS market.”

Swiss Re said that the transition is an intentional step to strengthen the leadership structure at SRILIAC, aligning organisational roles with its strategic growth.

Guatteri will remain actively involved as CIO in guiding the SRILIAC investment strategy, product offering and execution, delivering on continuity for the firm’s clients.
