Swiss headquartered specialist insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance-linked investment manager Twelve Capital AG has joined the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) as a supporting member.
The International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) is the main umbrella body for the cooperative and mutual insurance industry globally.
As a supporting member, ILS manager Twelve Capital will provide ICMIF members with the opportunity to take advantage of its support and expertise regarding capital issues across the re/insurance balance sheet, ranging from private debt through to insurance-linked securities (ILS).
John Butler, Head of Sourcing and Partner at Twelve Capital, said; “We perceive the mutual and cooperative sector to be amongst the most innovative within insurance. Mutuals and cooperatives are core not only in developed markets but also in finding risk transfer solutions in the developing economies of the world. They support a diverse membership base who remain loyal to the positive values the sector embodies.”
“Our new role reflects a strongly held belief that as Twelve has grown to become a major facilitator of financing to insurance entities within the global (re)insurance market, our experience, knowledge and access to capital will assist the members of ICMIF in their future development.”
“Cooperatives and mutuals are core to our client base and through this collaboration with ICMIF we aim to share our knowledge of existing products and develop new financing tools. ICMIF represents the cooperative and mutual insurance sector at the highest level and we are proud that they have invited us to become a member. We look forward to working together.”
ICMIF Chief Executive, Shaun Tarbuck commented on Twelve Capital’s membership of the organisation; “ICMIF has welcomed Twelve Capital AG into its membership in a bid to provide our 230 members with the opportunity to gain unique insights in achieving better risk adjusted returns. Twelve Capital particularly stand out in their capability to offer insurers a bespoke set of solutions ranging from debt through to Insurance Linked Securities (ILS).”
“On behalf of our Board, I am delighted to welcome Twelve Capital to ICMIF. Our Supporting Members are valued contributors to the Federation, supplying advice and expertise with a specific mutual or cooperative focus.”
It’s encouraging to see ILS capital providers becoming members of organisations that are key to global insurance and reinsurance industry cooperation. By further educating the members of organisations like the ICMIF, the ILS specialists can only help to further the education about this asset class, opening up opportunities for themselves and others in the space.
