Howden Capital Markets & Advisory (HCMA), the insurance and reinsurance broker’s investment banking and insurance-linked securities (ILS) specialist unit, has announced the hire of Adil Imani from Verisk, who joins as an ILS focused Vice President.
Imani has worked in the Verisk Catastrophe and Risk Solutions business with a focus on catastrophe bonds and insurance-linked securities for more than 6 years and joined the catastrophe modelling specialist in 2013.
He began his career as a Risk Analyst, becoming a Senior Risk Consultant in 2017 and beginning to specialise in cat bonds and ILS.
In 2019, Imani became a Manager in the Insurance-Linked Securities business at Verisk, quickly moving up to become Senior Manager, Director and most recently an Assistant Vice President.
In his time at Verisk, Imani worked closely with national insurance carriers, new market entrants, sovereign entities and other sponsors across the catastrophe bond market, ultimately taking on responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the ILS group.
In his role he helped protection buyers navigate the complexities of capital markets risk transfer, helping insurers, reinsurers, governments and other sponsors in their use of risk analytics and supporting their catastrophe bond transactions.
Mitchell Rosenberg, Global Co-Head of ILS at HCMA, commented, “Adil brings to HCMA a background of deep technical expertise, transaction experience, and long-standing relationships across the ILS ecosystem. He has been at the center of the market’s evolution for more than a decade. We are thrilled to welcome Adil to HCMA as we further expand our capabilities and continue delivering best-in-class solutions and opportunities for our clients and investors.”
Philipp Kusche, Chairman of HCMA Europe and Global Co-Head of ILS, added, “Adil’s experience advising sponsors across a broad spectrum of transactions, combined with his analytical rigor and market insight, make him an outstanding addition to our team. His appointment reflects HCMA’s continued investment in top-tier talent as we strengthen our position as a leading partner to carriers and investors accessing the ILS market.”
Imani commented on joining the company, “I am delighted to join HCMA at such an exciting time for the ILS market, which continues to deliver remarkable and sustained growth. HCMA’s highly regarded team is exceptionally well positioned to drive that growth by bringing innovative, client-focused solutions to the market, and I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success.”
Imani brings year’s of experience in supporting cat bond sponsor needs and translating the sophisticated catastrophe risk modelling and analytics required for ILS transactions to both protection buyers and investors.
He joins HCMA at a time when the company has been growing its catastrophe bond arranging, structuring and broker-dealer activities, further strengthening its expertise.
At this time, the Artemis cat bond issuance banks and broker leaderboard shows HCMA has played a role in supporting nearing $11 billion of currently outstanding catastrophe bond deals.
