Guy Carpenter appoints Marsh’s Dean Klisura as President

Reinsurance brokerage Guy Carpenter, part of the Marsh & McLennan group of companies, has appointed long-time Marsh insurance broking senior executive Dean Klisura as its new President.

In a move many will see as a potential step on the route towards a CEO succession at Guy Carpenter, Klisura will become President of Guy Carpenter from October 1st 2020, be based in New York and will report directly to Peter Hearn, CEO.

Klisura has had a long career with Marsh, spending 27 year’s at the insurance broker working in a variety of senior roles, most recently as President of Global Placement and Advisory.

As President of Guy Carpenter, which is a newly created role, Klisura will be responsible for its North America, International, Specialty, and Global Strategic Advisory units and will also be tasked with assisting CEO Hearn in leading the firm’s overall strategy.

Hearn commented on the appointment, “Dean’s deep relationships with insurance carriers and his knowledge of our industry will serve Guy Carpenter well. His leadership of Marsh’s placement operations, especially during this challenging time for the insurance industry, will provide our team with critical insights as they develop innovative solutions to help our clients navigate this rapidly-changing market.”

With Klisura moving across to the reinsurance side of the MMC world, Lucy Clarke, President of Marsh JLT Specialty, will assume additional responsibility for Marsh’s Global Placement operations.

Marsh Advisory is set to report to Flavio Piccolomini, President of Marsh International, and Martin South, President of Marsh US and Canada, the company said.
