Guernsey ILS PCC specialists Robus & Hexagon add new directors

Robus, the Guernsey based independent insurance manager and owner of the Hexagon PCC which works with ILS managers and investors to facilitate protected cells for collateralized reinsurance deals, has added two new directors to its team.

The two have been appointed to help Robus and its protected cell company operations Hexagon PCC cope with growing demand, as the two companies have experienced significant take-up for their services in recent years thanks to the growth of insurance-linked securities (ILS).

Jamie Polson has been appointed as the client lead on a portfolio of insurance companies managed by Robus, with ultimate responsibility for his clients complying with all legal, regulatory, compliance and corporate governance requirements.

Ben Dunning has joined Hexagon PCC, as group accountant and director where he will be responsible for reviewing accounts, auditing and ensuring that management agreement and regulatory/ legal requirements are met.

“The appointments of Jamie and Ben reflect the growth Robus has seen in recent years. It’s important that we have the right people to lead the company forward and I believe that these two men can do that. Between them they have 30 years’ experience in the captive insurance industry and are welcome additions to the board,” Chris Le Conte, Robus Group managing director, commented on the hires.

Polson originally joined Robus in 2014 and has been internally appointed to the board. Previously he spent 13 years at Aon Insurance Managers (Guernsey) Ltd and has worked at Coutts and the States of Guernsey Engineering Department. Polson has a wealth of experience in financial accounting as well as in the regulatory, compliance and company secretarial requirements of managing captives and of managing client relationships.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of working with new clients and helping to expand our client base whilst building up a strong knowledge of our existing clients. Robus is an innovative and fast-paced company and I felt the chance to join a smaller, independent team would provide a fresh challenge,” Polson said.

Dunning joined Hexagon PCC from Aon Insurance Managers (Guernsey), where he had worked for 16 years.

“Over the last 16 years I have gone from administrator to senior manager and I want to be able to use the experience I have to help Hexagon PCC continue to grow and succeed. It’s a relatively new and dynamic independent management firm and I am very much looking forward to the challenge,” commented Dunning.

The Hexagon PCC vehicle has been particularly popular helping Robus to become a key facilitator for ILS and collateralized reinsurance transactions domiciled in Guernsey. Hexagon PCC works with a number of ILS fund managers and direct investors to help them get their capital into structures suitable to participate in collateralized reinsurance transactions.
