Everest Reinsurance hires AXA XL’s Hoffman as Head of Claims and COO

Everest Re, the global specialty insurance and reinsurance group, has announced the hiring of Brent Hoffman, formerly of AXA XL, as Senior Vice President, Head of Claims and Chief Operations Officer for its Reinsurance division.

Hoffman will join Everest Reinsurance at the end of July and is set to report directly to Jim Williamson, Everest Group Chief Operating Officer and Head of Reinsurance.

He joins Everest Re with a long track-record for managing claims teams in reinsurance and the complex risk insurance sector.

Most recently, Hoffman worked as Chief Claims Officer at AXA XL, the commercial insurance and reinsurance arm of the AXA Group, where he led its global claims strategy and operations to support claims excellence, focused on multiple business lines and geographies.

Before his time at AXA XL, Hoffman worked in a range of leadership positions at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., where managed teams with responsibility for claims, litigation, and settlement strategies.

At Everest Reinsurance, Hoffman will take on responsibility for overseeing areas of the businesses operation and leading the global Reinsurance Claims function.

He will be expected to drive operational efficiencies and best practices consistently across the reinsurance organisation.

Everest recently completed its latest catastrophe bond issuance, with a $300 million Kilimanjaro III Re 2022-1 transaction.
