CelsiusPro AG, a Switzerland headquartered weather index insurance and parametric risk transfer specialist, has announced the hiring of Lea Mueller to lead its consultancy and advisory offering.
CelsiusPro, which considers itself an insurtech, offers parametric risk transfer and insurance solutions and advisory services, focused on severe or extreme weather protection, weather variability coverage and catastrophe or natural disaster risk transfer solutions.
Mueller joins CelsiusPro from her most recent role at reinsurance giant Swiss Re, where she worked on many parametric risk transfer initiatives in the reinsurance firms Public Sector Solutions group.
She takes on the role of Head of Consulting and CelsiusPro notes that she strengthens its offering both in consultancy with parametric insurance clients and advisory to insurance clients and other customers.
The company aims to provide “end-to-end services and solutions for climate insurance to public institutions and private companies,” and believes that Mueller brings it the expertise to achieve this.
She has more than eight years of experience in index insurance and natural catastrophe modelling, most recently as part of Swiss Re’s Public Sector Solutions group, where she worked to create tailored insurance solutions for the public sector.
As an expert in the field of climate change adaptation strategies, Mueller’s previous work included quantifying the current and future cyclone risks for the city of New York and identifying the most powerful adaptation measures.
Mueller and her team will advise clients in the public and private sectors on climate, agricultural and natural catastrophe risks worldwide.
The team also manages the Technical Assistance Facility of the InsuResilience Investment Fund, which aims to protect local communities and small businesses from extreme weather and climate change through expansion of climate insurance products.

Adding, “We use big data for risk analysis and insurance product design. We also provide our cutting-edge insurance platform to our clients to efficiently manage large-scale micro insurance schemes and enable distribution to critical mass.”
CelsiusPro aims to offer parametric weather, disaster and climate insurance solutions across the value chain, as well as to fill gaps where currently coverage is lacking or completely unavailable.
