    Total global reinsurance capacity declined by 2% last year, standing at $565 billion at December 31st 2015. However, alternative reinsurance capital continued to increase its share of the overall market during the period growing by 12% to $72 billion, according to reinsurance broker Aon Benfield.

    ISO, a division of Verisk Analytics is working to assist the development of improved terrorism insurance solutions, by collecting, aggregating and analysing data on global terror events for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the company has announced.

  7. Nephila’s Syndicate 2357 doubles profit, ups capacity by 68% for 2016
    Lloyd’s of London Syndicate 2357, backed by the largest manager of catastrophe and weather insurance or reinsurance linked assets, Nephila Capital, more than doubled its full-year profit in 2015 and has increased its stamp capacity for 2016 by 68% to $178.9m.

  8. Cat-in-a-Box & parametric contract pricing app launched by RMS
    Risk modelling firm RMS has launched a new cloud-based application that enables all insurance, reinsurance or insurance-linked securities (ILS) markets to model, create and price parametric risk transfer cat-in-a-box contracts.

  9. Bank of England warns of soft re/insurance market disconnect
    The Bank of England’s Chris Moulder, director of general insurance at the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), has warned of a disconnect between the supervisory discussions had with insurance and reinsurance firms and observed market behaviour.

  10. Ventus MGA looks to insurtech to efficiently transfer risk to ILS capital
    Ventus Risk Management, a recently established MGA focused on sourcing and underwriting property catastrophe risks, with backing directly from the capital markets and ILS investors, is embracing technology to help make the transfer of its risks more efficient.
