Aeolus hires Amit Patel from Aksia as Client Portfolio Manager

Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the Bermuda based reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused investment fund manager, has hired experienced alternative investments research and portfolio advisory specialist Amit Patel from Aksia LLC.

Patel has been providing investor clients with research and advisory on alternative investments for more than a decade at Aksia, with a specific focus on insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance linked investments.

In covering the ILS market for an investment consultancy and advisory firm, Patel has a strong appreciation for what institutional investors want from the insurance and reinsurance-linked asset class, as well as for the individual ILS fund managers themselves.

He will also join Aeolus with a wealth of contacts on the investor side, as well as knowledge on the ILS market’s investment landscape and competition.

Patel’s career began at PWC where he worked for a year as a Consultant in its consumer finance group, before joining Aksia in 2010.

He worked his way up to the position of Senior Vice President, for Quantitative and Insurance Strategies at the company.

Aeolus confirmed Patel’s appointment as a Client Portfolio Manager in its Business Development and Investor Relations function.

Patel will be based in Bermuda for the role, so presumably this is subject to immigration approvals as is usual for any hire on the island.

Aeolus has added a raft of new hires over the last year, including Aditya Dutt, the former leader of reinsurance firm RenaissanceRe’s ILS and third-party reinsurance capital management businesses as Partner and President, Nicholas Jagoda from Elementum Advisors as a Partner and Portfolio Manager,  Dr. Peter Dailey from RMS as Head of Research, and most recently Lancashire’s Andy Richardson as a Portfolio Manager.
