Global provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance products and third-party reinsurance capital firm Lancashire Holdings has announced a new appointment within its third-party capital management brand Lancashire Capital Management. Mathieu Marsan has been appointed as Portfolio Manager & Actuary for the firms Capital Management division.

The continuing influx of so-called convergence capital into the reinsurance sector, non-traditional capital from third-party, alternative, capital market sources, has had a very real impact on the reinsurance markets capital structure resulting in significant pricing pressure at the recent June 1 renewals, according to insight from reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter.

Risk modelling firm AIR Worldwide has just published a very timely update to its ‘The Coastline at Risk‘ report, in which it presents updated estimates for the insured value of residential and commercial U.S. properties in states and counties  along the Atlantic eastern seaboard and the Gulf Coast.

According to the latest report from modeling, data and analytics firm CoreLogic the total value of residential property at risk of hurricane storm surge damage is now estimated at $1.1 trillion. The report contains updated estimates for both the number and value of single-family homes exposed to hurricane-driven storm-surge damage within the United States.

The Residential Reinsurance 2013 Ltd. (Series 2013-1) catastrophe bond from regular cat bond sponsor U.S. primary insurer and military focused mutual insurer USAA completed successfully last Friday. The completion of its 20th Residential Re cat bond sees USAA benefit from a new $300m source of fully-collateralized reinsurance for a range of U.S. perils.
