A technology focused weather insurance firm that Artemis first covered in 2008 has been purchased by agricultural giant Monsanto for around $1 billion. The Climate Corporation, formerly Weatherbill, has grown from an online weather insurance provider into a major player in crop insurance.

The Climate Corporation has announced the launch of their Total Weather Insurance™ product for 2012. The revamped crop weather insurance product features next-generation weather monitoring, with over 800,000 rainfall measurement grid areas across the U.S., industry leading soil moisture tracking and location specific yield assessment.

Weatherbill, the weather insurance specialists who offer a number of products such as their RainCheck insurance, have announced that they have expanded their Total Weather Insurance products coverage to include cover for the 2012 winter wheat crop.
