Speedwell Weather Derivatives, a provider of software, weather data, forecasts and consultancy to the weather derivatives and weather risk management market have announced the release of SWS Version 8.0, the latest version of their weather derivative pricing and risk management software.

SWS 8.0 is the culmination of over two years’ of development as the millions of lines of code in SWS were converted to C# and the .NET framework. This ground breaking version lays the foundations needed for continued evolution over the coming years.

Leveraging this new environment, many new features have been added including better support for sub hourly data, extended forecast support, new back office functionality and improved data mining. Speedwell Data, Speedwell ECMWF forecasts and new Speedwell GFS downscaled forecasts are fully integrated. SWS clients can now see all the various sources of data in their respective types, from raw data all the way up the data hierarchy to the Speedwell Cleaned and Recalibrated Data product. Advanced forecast verification tools are now incorporated into the software.

Stephen Doherty, CEO of Speedwell Weather Derivatives, said, “As well as the fundamental shift in platform to .NET we have made SWS more intuitive and provided some important new features. Now in its 10th year, the release of SWS 8.0 shows our continued investment in and future-proofing of SWS. We are excited that the new platform allows our development team to innovate further and faster than ever before.”
