Global law firm Mayer Brown has hired Jay Kallas, a lawyer with experience in catastrophe bonds, collateralized reinsurance and other capital market-related areas of risk transfer, as counsel in its Global Insurance Industry Group and Corporate & Securities.
Kallas was most recently with Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, where he worked on a range of reinsurance related issues, prior to which he was a Corporate Counsel in the investments and business transactions department at insurer Allstate and has also worked at law firms Locke Lord and Dewey & LeBoeuf.
In his time Kallas has worked and provided counsel across, life, casualty and property reinsurance, on catastrophe bonds, quota share reinsurance arrangements, excess of loss coverage, collateralized structures, mergers, acquisitions and other capital market related reinsurance activities.
In his new role at Mayer Brown, Kallas will advise client companies on structured insurance and reinsurance transactions.
During his time at Allstate Kallas likely worked on some of the insurers Sanders Re catastrophe bond transaction.
