Horseshoe names LeMoine Head of Insurance Management, as Godfrey retires

Horseshoe Group has appointed employee Fred LeMoine to the role of Head of Insurance Management, succeeding one of the original co-founders of the firm, Nigel Godfrey, who is set to retire.

With the appointment Horseshoe, the Bermuda-headquartered ILS and reinsurance management, servicing, risk transformation and fronting specialist, demonstrates its strength in-depth and ability to replace a key member of the team who reaches his retirement.

Nigel Godfrey co-founded the company alongside CEO Andre Perez and held the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Insurance Management services.

Godfrey has decided to retire as of April 30th 2019, but his involvement with Horseshoe will continue as a consultant and importantly Chairman of the Group’s UK operations where the firm has established itself in recent years.

His replacement LeMoine joined Horseshoe at the start of 2019 and has more than 20 years of Bermuda insurance and reinsurance market expertise, including in insurance-linked securities (ILS).

Most recently, LeMoine was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of insurance and reinsurance firm Aspen Bermuda Limited.

Prior to that he held the role of Vice President and Account Executive with Marsh Management Services in Bermuda and also served as a Director on a range of insurance company boards.

During his career he has gained experience in captive management, insurance-linked securities (ILS) management and broader insurance and reinsurance finance and operations.

His wisdom, dedication and leadership have been instrumental to the success we enjoy today. I wish Nigel the very best in this next phase of his life, as he takes the time to enjoy activities he always wanted to pursue.”

Nigel Godfrey also commented, “It has been an incredibly satisfying journey, working all these years with Andre to grow Horseshoe from a two-man shop to an agile and leading global financial services provider. I think we have been successful in finding my perfect successor in Fred; having worked closely with Fred over the last several months, I feel very comfortable in handing over the reins to him. Our clients and business partners will be in good hands with Fred. I have personally ensured a seamless transition and I look forward to watching Horseshoe continue reaching new heights.”

Horseshoe is a significant service provider to the global ILS and collateralized reinsurance industry, with a key role as transformer, manager and facilitator of structures, vehicles and transactions in the ILS marketplace.
