At a time when the UK on the brink of an economic recession and facing some of the worst economic conditions in history news stories such as this mornings reports on retail sales in July can only help to perpetuate the gloom.
July’s retail sales were down 0.9% on last year with the current climate and the weather being blamed. August so far has been even wetter so I think we can expect that to be down as well.
It’s at times like this that retailers need to get serious about their risk management as hedging your weather risks could mean the difference between a bad summer and a fatal one which kills your business.
