Dominic Christian, the executive at insurance and reinsurance broker Aon who had a significant role in the merging of Aon Re and Benfield to become Aon Benfield, is to take on the role of Global Chairman at the reinsurance brokerage.
Christian, who has more than 30 years experience in insurance and reinsurance markets, was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Aon UK Ltd, the brokers UK risk management, insurance broking, and reinsurance business, as well as Executive Chairman of Aon Benfield International since 2013.
The new Global Chairman of Aon Benfield position will see Christian overseeing the reinsurance brokers global operation, at a time when broker’s roles in the risk to capital value-chain are being redefined to a degree and with further disruption ahead his leadership could be key as Aon Benfield looks to adapt to the evolving reinsurance market.
Christian has a firm grasp of the influence that the capital markets have had in reinsurance and are expected to in the future, which are going to be key elements of any brokers future mandate.
Christian will continue to report directly to Greg Case, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aon plc, who commented on the news, “Dominic has an innate knowledge of Aon’s global reinsurance business with over 30 years of extensive industry experience, which will be of enormous value in managing the responsibilities of his new Chairmanship and working closely with Eric Andersen, CEO of Aon Benfield. ”
Julie Page has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Aon UK Ltd, subject to regulatory approval, to replace Christian in that role.

The Board of Aon UK Ltd will greatly benefit from her counsel as we continue to grow the business in this key market and she brings a broad perspective from across the entire industry through her role as Deputy Chair of British Insurance Brokers’ Association,” Case said.
Page will report to Michael O’Connor, Global Chief Executive Officer of Aon Risk Solutions in the CEO of Aon UK Ltd role and will also continue in a current position as Chief Executive Officer of Aon Risk Solutions UK, reporting to John Cullen, Chief Executive Officer of Aon Risk Solutions EMEA.
