Vesttoo, the insurtech that uses proprietary artificial intelligence and machine learning to help companies assess and transfer risks to the capital markets, has announced a new hire to help drive its Insurance-Linked Program (ILP) in Faraz Khan, who most recently worked in ILS and retrocession at reinsurance firm Swiss Re.
Khan most recently held a Vice President role in Insurance Linked Securities and Retrocession Business Management at Swiss Re Capital Markets, the reinsurance firms capital market and ILS specialist unit.
Khan has more than a decade of specialised experience in reinsurance related risk transfer to the capital markets and is the latest addition at Vesttoo, following a series of high-profile hires designed to expand its marketplace and ILP program client-base.
“We are thrilled to welcome Faraz to our team. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the group,” Yaniv Bertele, CEO and Co-Founder of Vesttoo explained. “As a proven expert in capital markets and financial services, Faraz will spearhead the expansion of the ILP and additional investment vehicles.”
Khan has joined Vesttoo as an ILP Product Specialist and will oversee the execution of transactions between insurers and investors in the Program.
Khan will also be tasked with helping on the assset raising side as well, as Vesttoo looks to grow a pool of third-party assets under management (AuM) to support high frequency, low severity insurance-liability linked investments in the market.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work at Vesttoo and look forward to lending my experience in Insurance Linked Securities to navigate the unique challenges of my new role,” Vesttoo ILP Product Specialist Faraz Khan said. “I look forward to working with the team to deliver results to our clients and industry partners.”
Vesttoo’s insurance-linked program (ILP) is its first venture into raising capital to support the transactions it structures and through the program investors will be able to make existing high-quality assets work harder for them, while pledging them as reinsurance collateral.
Vesttoo wants to make capital market originated risk transfer capacity more widely and easily available to ceding insurers or reinsurers, while connecting a global investor-base with sources of lower-volatility insurance risk.
