Swiss Re names Martin Zingg to lead Alternative Capital Partners (ACP) as Minter to retire

Swiss Re has appointed long-standing senior employee Martin Zingg as the new head of its Alternative Capital Partners (ACP) division, as incumbent to the role Chris Minter is set to retire from the global reinsurance company.

Alternative Capital Partners (ACP) was established in 2019 as a division that oversees all of Swiss Re’s activities with alternative capital investors, as well as in the catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities (ILS) market, including its structuring and ILS fund management operations.

The position of Head of the Alternative Capital Partners unit was taken on by Minter in 2024, having previously been the Head of Principal Investments & Acquisitions at Swiss Re.

Now, Minter is retiring after nearly 13 years at the reinsurance company.

During his time leading Alternative Capital Partners, the firms’ ILS AUM grew from $5 billion to $7.6 billion (including the reinsurers own investments in the sidecar vehicles and ILS fund strategies).

In addition, under Minter’s leadership, Swiss Re Capital Markets arranged 26 catastrophe bond and ILS transactions with a notional value of $7.4 billion and the reinsurer also entered into a partnership with investment manager GAM to provide ILS portfolio management services.

Martin Zingg is currently the Group Head Corporate Developments & Strategic Investments at Swiss Re.

He will take on the leadership of Alternative Capital Partners (ACP) in addition to his current responsibilities, which reflects the increasing importance of an integrated approach at reinsurers between corporate development and alternative capital.

Zingg’s new title will be Group Head Corporate Development and Capital Markets, Swiss Re and the change becomes effective from July 1st 2026. Zingg is based in New York and will continue to be located there for the company.

Zingg has over 30 years’ experience across insurance asset management, corporate development and capital markets, with a track-record in complex financial transactions, managing portfolios of assets, including partnerships, alternative capital structures and acquisitions.

Zingg has been the Group Head Corporate Developments & Strategic Investments at Swiss Re since 2015, prior to which he was the Group Chief Investment Officer at re/insurer Catlin from 2010 to 2015.

Prior to that, he worked at Swiss Re Asset Management from 1995 to 2010 and at investment bank UBS from 1998 to 1992.
