Twelve Securis, the specialist catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager, has appointed André Botma as Portfolio Manager within its ILS Investment Management team.
Botma’s appointment follows Twelve Securis’ recently announced transformation, which sees the firm combining its catastrophe bond and private ILS capabilities within a single ILS Investment Management platform, in order to consolidate and optimise its approach to managing dedicated strategies and blended portfolios.
In his new role, Botma will work closely with Twelve Securis’ experienced portfolio management, analytics, trading, and Catastrophe & Climate Research teams, contributing across the firm’s broader ILS investment platform.
“His experience complements our existing capabilities and adds further depth to the team, while our investment philosophy, portfolio construction process and risk management framework remain unchanged,” Twelve Securis commented.
Based in Zurich, Botma joins Twelve Securis with more than 25 years of experience across insurance-linked securities, insurance and financial markets, as well as extensive expertise in cat bond and private ILS portfolio management, portfolio construction and asset allocation.
He joins the company from Euler ILS Partners, the specialist Swiss insurance-linked securities investment manager, where he recently served as a Senior Portfolio Manager.
Botma also spent several years serving as a Senior Portfolio Manager – Insurance Linked Strategies, at Credit Suisse Group AG, which was acquired by UBS Group AG in 2023. Recall in mid-2024, UBS reached an agreement to sell the Credit Suisse Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd. business to its existing management team, led by Niklaus Hilti out of which Euler ILS Partners Ltd. was launched.
Prior to his time in ILS portfolio management at Credit Suisse, Botma held a number of positions earlier in his career working in structured products at South African capital markets firms.
