PartnerRe Capital Management, the specialist division of global reinsurer PartnerRe that manages third-party capital on behalf of investors and deploys it to reinsurance opportunities, has hired Benjamin Baltesar as Head of Portfolio and Analytics.

PartnerRe, the Bermuda headquartered reinsurance company, has announced that Andrew Laing has been promoted to become the new Head of its third-party capital focused PartnerRe Capital Management division, as incumbent in the role Andrew Hughes is set to depart the firm.

Eaton Vance, part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, has added to two of the insurance-linked securities (ILS) allocations it makes within its mutual fund range, with an upsized commitment to the Swiss Re Core Nat Cat Fund and a fresh investment into Munich Re’s sidecar vehicle Eden Re II made for 2025.

Reflecting the significant growth in its use and management of third-party reinsurance capital over the last calendar year, PartnerRe, the Bermuda headquartered reinsurance company ceded a significant increase in premiums to its main insurance-linked securities (ILS) vehicle in 2021.

The use of insurance-linked securities and third-party reinsurance capital is a “strategic component” of the business model for reinsurer PartnerRe, its CEO told us.
