The Life & Longevity Markets Association (LLMA) announced a milestone in their plans for the development of a market in tradeable longevity and mortality risk instruments yesterday with the news that they were to take ownership of the LifeMetrics Index which was created by J.P. Morgan.

The Life & Longevity Markets Association (LLMA), a not for profit association dedicated to promoting liquidity in the traded longevity and mortality risk markets, has announced their latest member reinsurer Munich Re. The largest reinsurer in the world takes membership of the LLMA to 12 they said yesterday.

Insurer Aviva has joined the Life & Longevity Markets Association (LLMA) taking the number of members of the still new association up to eleven. The LLMA is a not for profit association dedicated to promoting liquidity in the traded longevity and mortality risk markets.

Further to our previous post earlier today about the new standardised swaps that the Life & Longevity Markets Association are aiming to introduce, we now have further details on these efforts to standardise deal structures from the LLMA.

The Life & Longevity Markets Association (LLMA) has proposed a standardises framework for designing, building and producing longevity indices. The proposal aims to provide the longevity risk transfer market with a set of standards to facilitate easier longevity risk transfer transactions and increase transparency.

Two new high profile members have signed up to the Life & Longevity Markets Association. The market for life insurance securitization and longevity risk trading has now got a champion to help it grow and mature. The Life and Longevity Markets Association has been founded ‘as a not-for-profit venture in order to promote a liquid traded market in longevity and mortality-related risk’.
