SafePoint Insurance Company has returned to sponsor a new catastrophe bond, initially targeting a $150 million source of multi-year named storm reinsurance protection from capital market investors through a Nature Coast Re Ltd. (Series 2026-1)  issuance, Artemis has learned.

Following the closure of the new Meritage Re Ltd. (Series 2026-1) catastrophe bond by entities linked to MGU SageSure, John Forney, President and CEO of GeoVera Nova, one of the sponsors of the issuance, has expressed gratitude for the strong investor response that the cat bond received from the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market.

MS Amlin has promoted Sarah Wilson to Head of Outwards Reinsurance, a role which will see her guide the strategic direction of the company’s reinsurance buying, potentially influencing engagement within the ILS market, particularly through the firm’s Phoenix Re sidecars.

As market conditions soften and rate reductions accelerate, AM Best has revised its global reinsurance sector outlook to stable from positive, also cautioning that ILS capital could exert even more pressure on the market, although still viewing the situation as largely disciplined on the underwriting front.
