PERILS AG, the Zurich-based provider of industry-wide European catastrophe insurance exposure, industry loss data and indices, has announced a third and updated loss estimate of €1.091 billion for insured property losses from October’s European windstorm Christian.

A new venture named Catastrophe Indices and Quantification Inc. (CatIQ) has launched targeting the provision of Canadian catastrophe loss data, indices and analysis to the insurance and reinsurance industries.

Property Claim Services (PCS) has teamed up with Verisk Climate, both units of Verisk Analytics, to add natural hazard and weather analysis maps of affected areas to its PCS catastrophe designation and loss estimate bulletins.

The volume of catastrophe bonds issued during the first-quarter of 2014 which utilised data from Property Claim Services (PCS) within their triggers totalled $465m, accounting for 50% of the applicable deals issued.
