While the insurance-linked securities (ILS) business at Hiscox Capital Partners has seen its headline assets under management (AUM) figure rise, this underplays the fact deployable ILS capital has risen more thanks to returns of older capital being outpaced by new flows, and Hiscox Group’s CEO believes the deployable total will keep growing.

Hiscox Capital Partners, the division of Hiscox Re that encompasses insurance-linked securities (ILS) investments and quota-share partnerships, lifted its ILS assets under management (AUM) to $1.5 billion at January 1st 2026, as $330 million of inflows over the last year served to increase deployable capital for the unit.

Hiscox Re has announced the launch of Hiscox Capital Partners, which is set to bring together under a single structure all the capital partnership activity the organisation has managed for nearly two decades, including third-party capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS).

According to Hiscox Re & ILS, successful navigation of the reinsurance cycle requires proactive portfolio management, where strategic capital allocation plays a central role alongside diversification, retention strategy, and asset allocation, traits that are all the more important at phases in the market cycle such as we see today.

Hiscox CFO Paul Cooper said this morning during an analyst call that while growth into property catastrophe reinsurance may slow for the group in 2026, given the rate environment, the company may elect to cede more to third-party capital as it continues to be able to attract investors.

Following a strong first-half of the year in which it raised new capital from investors Hiscox ILS, the insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment focused arm of Hiscox Group, saw its ILS assets under management dip to $1.3 billion in the third-quarter after planned returns of capital to its ongoing investors.

According to Hiscox Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Paul Cooper, the majority of the $300 million of third-party capital raised by Hiscox ILS, the insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment focused arm of Hiscox Group, during the first half of 2025, has gone into the organisation’s property catastrophe exposed business.

Hiscox CFO Paul Cooper said today there remains “healthy interest” in catastrophe bonds at higher layers of the reinsurance tower, but also noted that the effect of the California wildfires could weigh on ILS fund performance fee income in both the organisation’s H1’25 and FY’25 results.
