The Government Superannuation Fund Authority of New Zealand has demonstrated its growing appetite to invest into catastrophe bonds and other catastrophe reinsurance opportunities, by adding insurance-linked securities (ILS) specialist Elementum Advisors to its roster of managers this year.

Elementum Advisors, LLC, the insurance-linked securities (ILS) fund management and collateralized reinsurance underwriter, saw its adjusted EBITDA rise to $19 million for 2023, which was more than double the previous year, stakeholder White Mountains has said.

White Mountains CEO Manning Rountree recently explained that the insurance-linked securities (ILS) funds managed by Elementum Advisors delivered 15-20% returns “across the complex” in 2023, a year when his company generated strong returns from its investments into insurance and reinsurance.
